The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu toward Machha Khola before following the Budhi Gandaki River through lush lower valleys, terraced farmland, waterfalls, and traditional settlements. As the trail gains altitude, the landscape changes dramatically, with pine forests, alpine meadows, rugged cliffs, and spectacular views of Manaslu and the surrounding peaks.

One of the highlights of the trek is reaching the high Himalayan village of Samdo before crossing the challenging Larkya La Pass at approximately 5,106 meters. From the pass, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, Annapurna II, and other Himalayan peaks.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu to Machha Khola

Drive from Kathmandu toward Machha Khola, passing through scenic hills, terraced farmland, rivers, and rural villages. Continue along mountain roads toward the starting point of the trek. Overnight at a local teahouse.

Day 2: Machha Khola to Jagat

Begin trekking along the Budhi Gandaki River. The trail passes through forests, waterfalls, suspension bridges, and traditional settlements before reaching Jagat, the entry point to the Manaslu Conservation Area. Overnight at a teahouse.

Day 3: Jagat to Deng

Continue through the narrow Budhi Gandaki Valley, crossing several suspension bridges and passing through forests and mountain villages. The trail gradually gains altitude as you approach Deng. Overnight at a local teahouse.

Day 4: Deng to Namrung

Trek through increasingly dramatic mountain landscapes, passing through forests and traditional settlements. As the valley opens, enjoy views of Manaslu and other surrounding peaks before reaching Namrung. Overnight at a teahouse.

Day 5: Namrung to Samagaon

Continue toward the higher Himalayan region, passing through Tibetan-influenced villages and alpine landscapes. The views of Manaslu and the surrounding peaks become increasingly impressive. Reach Samagaon and spend the night at a local teahouse.

Day 6: Acclimatization Day in Samagaon

Spend a day acclimatizing and exploring Samagaon. Take a short hike to nearby viewpoints or explore the village and surrounding monasteries. The day allows your body to adjust to the increasing altitude before continuing toward the Larkya La Pass.

Day 7: Samagaon to Samdo

Continue trekking through a dramatic high-altitude landscape toward Samdo. The trail offers spectacular views of Manaslu and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Reach Samdo, a traditional settlement close to the Tibetan border, and spend the night there.

Day 8: Acclimatization Day in Samdo

Enjoy a second acclimatization day in the high Himalayan environment. Take an optional short hike around the valley while preparing for the challenging crossing of Larkya La Pass.

Day 9: Samdo to Dharmasala

Descend briefly before climbing gradually toward Dharamsala, also known as Larkya Phedi. The landscape becomes increasingly rugged and alpine. Prepare for the early morning crossing of the Larkya La Pass. Overnight at a basic mountain lodge.

Day 10: Dharmasala to Bimthang via Larkya La Pass

Start early for the challenging ascent toward Larkya La Pass at approximately 5,106 meters. Cross the pass and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II. Descend through rocky and glacial terrain toward Bimthang. Overnight at a teahouse.

Day 11: Bimthang to Tilije

Continue descending through forests and alpine landscapes. The trail passes through beautiful mountain scenery and traditional villages before reaching Tilije. Overnight at a local teahouse.

Day 12: Tilije to Dharapani

Continue through the Marsyangdi Valley toward Dharapani. The landscape gradually becomes greener as you descend to lower elevations. Reach Dharapani and celebrate the completion of the main Manaslu Circuit section. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 13: Dharapani to Kathmandu

Drive from Dharapani toward Kathmandu. Enjoy the changing scenery as the route follows mountain rivers and passes through rural settlements and terraced hills. Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.

Day 14: Departure from Kathmandu

Your Manaslu Circuit Trek concludes today. Depending on your departure schedule, enjoy free time in Kathmandu before your airport transfer for your onward journey.
